Our Public School System - 1734 Words

The ability to think critically has been taken out of our public school system but is slowly being reintegrated so that tomorrows’ thinkers are able to do so with the ability to firmly stand behind their beliefs. While some people are against the idea that our future should question what we tell them is true only strengthens the sense of doom that settles on the rest. We don’t need to abandon our future generations but we need to show them that their opinions are what create the world around them and without those we fall into a downward spiral. We need to change the ways we teach our children and create schools that are there to show them that there is more to life than making money and dying. This shows how people who are used to not having to think for themselves are easy prey to those that want to corrupt them or even control them. The creator of the doctored video, while unknown, may have chosen to create it for the purpose of fear, or awareness to their view of the subject. Although, in the end, the doctored video manipulated people who were unable to believe that a posted video may be false. While a video is something that can be hard to forge, it is not the first time in history that people have fallen for this trick. This has been done many times but has always been subjected to atrocities like how Charles Manson convinced many people that he was the messiah and had them do his bidding be it sexual favors or murder, or how Hitler convinced Germany to start another world war even though they had come out crippled from one not long before. While it may feel like a majority of people would want to keep our society in the shackles of simple thinking, many people have written volumes on what needs to be done to free out future from its oppressive fate. â€Å"It is generally recognized that the ability to think critically becomes more and more important to success in life as the pace of change continues to accelerate and as complexity and interdependence continue to intensify.
